Proper Relative Humidity Levels in Your House

Winter relative humidity levels

During the heating season, when the outside air temperature is below 15º, the relative humidity should be no higher than 30% as well as no condensation on your windows. In very cold weather, the humidity will need to fall below 30% to prevent condensation on windows.  You will need to regulate your humidistat and/or air exchanger controller to prevent condensation and frost from forming on your windows.

Summer relative humidity levels

During the cooling season on an average summer day, the relative humidity in the main level should not exceed 55% with proper dehumidification and air conditioning.
